Welcome!

Bright Ideas Speech Therapy is a speech therapy and dysphagia management private practice in Ohio. I have been a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for 20 years, and have worked with children and adults in multiple settings. Over the years I have noticed that my patients and their families have lots of questions, especially when they first come home from skilled rehab or the NICU, or if it is their first experience with speech therapy. They often have questions about speech therapy in general, what an SLP does, and what to expect. Parents and caregivers want to know, “what can I do to help?” It is difficult to formulate and ask all of those questions in the time you have with your SLP. The goal of my blog is to answer some of those questions, provide education, and help you access quality, evidence-based information to help you make the best decisions for your family member. Advice and information on this blog is not meant to replace services provided by your licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, or serve as a medical recommendation. Your own SLP is an expert in speech, language, and swallowing, and you are the expert on your family member. Together, you can ensure your family member gets the most from their time in therapy. Questions for the “Ask the SLP” section or stories for the “Speech Therapy Success Stories” section can be submitted to brightideas.speechtherapy@gmail.com and may be edited for clarity. SLPs submitting success stories must provide a signed patient release stating permission to share their story.
